My name is Pantelis Mantasas, I am a craftsman, designer, manufacturer and producer of handmade Jewellery, and I welcome you to my new online store “Skyros Jewellery”.
How it all began
My first contact with jewelry came one summer in my uncle’s workshop, when I was eight years old. Then, everything seemed magical to my childish eyes.
At the time, my uncle’s workshop employed forty people: craftsmen and support staff; just as it would be in a noisy hive with tremendous organization.
They were working in small groups with very specialized responsibilities; designers, craftsmen, some of them were nailing stones, some were polishing and plating, and each one was playing their own role to give a Jewellery its final form.
Back then, all of this seemed like a mountain to me — a mountain I wanted to conquer. So, there was not a single Saturday or school holiday without me going to the workshop, since the goal had already taken shape in my mind.
More than thirty years have passed since my journey in the world of jewelry began, and much of it now feels wonderfully distant. Yet the passion, love, and dedication I hold for this refined art remain unchanged. The design and creation of jewelry is, to me, far more than a craft; it is the expression of a deeply personal art. It is the rare ability to transform thought, imagination, and the very essence of the soul into a singular creation—one that is given form, character, and life.
The comprehensive training I received gave me the opportunity to work in small workshops, but also in branded Jewellery companies, while the rich work experience I gathered gave me the opportunity to become an examiner of the Ministry of Education’s vocational education and training organization (O.Ε.Ε.Κ.).
